INKPENCAFE: Designs & Drawings
Star, Star, Teach Me How to Shine
I've finished Columbia's curriculum, save for one history credit that I'm fixing as we speak. So now the job search begins in earnest. The biggest decision I have to make currently is where to live. Chicago is great and I've got plenty of reasons to stick around, but lately Los Angeles has been looking promising as well. I've lined up an internship in LA for this summer, so I'm going to spend at least a month there. But by then, I want to have my decision made so I can have my things there if that's the plan. Trying to be as rational as possible, but it's not easy. Too many external variable for now.

I'm sleepy. I'll update this again soon.
Too long, really
What happened, you might be asking yourselves? Did he become rich and famous and spends his time eating fish eggs on tiny crackers? Not quite.
My school schedule blew up this spring and I have not had a single moment to spare. But have no fear! I have every intention of making this a more frequently updated blog. More art posts, more life posts, etc, etc, etc! (Just in case you need more frequent posts on my life, check my Twitter at nSpence.) Soon this awful Chicago weather will die off and make way for the happy seasons. The seasons for arting and clowning. So excited about future projects.

CIRCUS, BATS, AND PUPPETS
These are the things I've been up to lately. I've been spending most of my time working on my circus skills and building things in the puppet shop at school. If you would like to follow me on Facebook, it's definitely the easiest way of staying in touch and knowing what is happening. I fail at updating this news feed regularly.
Also, my first real job is on it's way! I'm illustrating a scene to help a business man propose his book to the publisher and I get to draw bats in business suits.
Little Chilly in Chi
I like Chicago, but the cold season really does have a tendency to get me down. Gotta try to keep the energy up though.

It's been a long time since I've posted anything in the "News" section, as I have been super busy with class projects and little else. Once I start working on my own projects, I'll be better about that. In the mean time, I've started a blog that I update with a little more frequency (if anyone's interested).

Escaping Cages

Projects that are up in the air right now are: Word4, Manifest T-Shirt design, Threadless Horror Design, Echo editorial icons, Linework Anthology and ever building school projects. If I don't drown myself in the lake, I'll see you guys in a bit.
Summer and Circus
It's finally summer and I'm getting more comfortable and relaxed. I've actually had time to practice my "hobbies" and I'm ordering my silk-screen supplies later tonight. VERY exciting! I have a show in July @ Café Mediterra so make sure you all come out for that. I'll post more as that comes closer.
COMICS COMICS COMICS!!!
Okay, two things:

First, Ivan Brunetti is hosting a do-it-yourself indie comics lecture on May 1st, 6-7:30pm on the third floor of Columbia's Library. It's going to be amazing and Ivan is brilliant.

Then Chicago Comics is hosting FREE COMICS DAY on the first Saturday of May (3rd). That's right, FREE!!! And Jeffrey Brown will be doing signings from 2-4pm, for all you mopey cat-lovers.

See you all there!
ABULIC DAY, WEEK, MONTH, ...
Abulia - (noun) Loss or impairment of the ability to make decisions or act independently.

The uphill struggle of being a person. Not just a person, someone that I want to be, someone I would be friends with. I don't understand this lack of motivation towards my own future. I am fighting abulia the whole way, but this is probably a side-effect of being single for two months after ending a one and a half year relationship. I'm becoming more productive, it's just a slow process...
